    The Coastal Environmental Partnership’s Household Hazardous Waste Collection Events scheduled for Saturday, October 13th in Craven and Pamlico counties have been postponed.

    The contractor for the events, CleanHarbors, suffered severe damage from Hurricane Michael and are unable to send their crews to our events.

    The events will be rescheduled but a date has not been chosen.  Please check our website, www.cepnc.org, for a rescheduled date.   We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience.

    Household Hazardous Waste Recycling Events in Pamlico and Craven counties will take place tomorrow, October 13.  The Pamlico County Courthouse on Highway 55 in Bayboro is the site for the Pamlico event.  The hours there are 9:00 am to 12:00 noon.  Craven Community College, 800 College Court, in New Bern is the site for the Craven event.  Signs will direct you to parking lot E, near Orringer Auditorium.  The hours there are 8:00 am to 1:00 pm.
    Accepted items include:  Latex and oil paints, used motor oil, farm pesticides, gasoline, drain openers, paint thinners, cooking oil and antifreeze.
    Items not accepted include:  Commercial waste, gas cylinders, explosives, ammunition, or infectious, biological or radioactive wastes.
    State law forbids accepting materials from commercial sources.

    When those old tires are sent to the landfill, they trap water that attracts rodents and mosquitoes. They also consume a lot of space and create a fire risk. Please dispose of them properly. Or them and create unique projects.
